PhD thesis

The PhD thesis is generally made of three papers within the same topic, structured as follows.

First paper: literature review

Second paper: research paper

Third paper: research paper

(Optional: fourth research paper)

There are also two other alternatives for a PhD thesis.

- the thesis can be also made of three stand-alone papers of different topics. By “stand-alone paper” we intend paper inclusive of the literature review, with the aim of publishing each paper alone;

- the thesis can be also a monography, made of chapters. Ideally, but not binding, the structure could be the following. Chapter 1: Literature Review, Chapter 2: Methodology Chapter 3 and 4: Findings and Discussion of results.

The supervisor will guide the student in the choice of the best alternative
