Admission Requirements

Applicants may apply for a PhD program without nationality restrictions if, at the cut-off date of the call for applications, they have obtained one of the following degrees:

· Bachelor’s degree obtained according to the relevant regulations before the entry into force of Ministerial Decree no. 509/1999

· Specialization degree (Ministerial Decree no. 509/1999)

· Master’s degree (Ministerial Decree no. 270/2004) or eligible foreign qualification.

Conditional Admission

Applicants who obtain the qualification required for the admission within the deadline set by the related call may also apply: in that case the admission to the selection will be conditional and the applicant must send the PhD School - under penalty of expiration - a declaration in lieu of certificate duly signed by the applicant under art. 46 of Presidential Decree no. 445 of 28.12.2000 within 5 days after obtaining the degree.

Foreign Qualification Eligibility

The eligibility of a foreign qualification is assessed by the PhD Board according to the current regulations in Italy and in the country that issued the qualification and to the international treaties or conventions on the recognition of foreign qualifications for academic purposes.

For the eligibility of a foreign qualification that has not been declared equivalent to an Italian 2nd-level degree, foreign applicants – solely for the purpose of being admitted to the PhD program they intend to apply for – will have to submit an explicit request for equivalence in the application using the form attached to the call for application, of which it is an integral part, and completing the application with the documents specified in the form to allow the PhD Board to assess the eligibility of the qualification, duly translated into Italian and legalized by the competent Italian diplomatic-consular missions abroad.
