Position: Postdoctoral Researcher
Project Title: Exploring the Role of Language Experience in Mental Representations
- Overview
We invite applications for a postdoctoral position funded by a grant dedicated to investigating the impact of language experience on mental representations, with a specific focus on the spatial domain. This project aims to quantify the role of language experience using distributional semantics models, employing a range of methodologies including behavioral and eye-tracking methods (and exploring other techniques such as TMS).
- Research environmentÂ
The successful candidate will join a dynamic research group that is set to expand further, thanks to the support of an upcoming ERC Starting Grant on related topics. The position is based at the University of Pavia, renowned as one of the oldest universities globally, conveniently located less than 40 km from Milano. The principal investigator for this position will be Prof. Luca Rinaldi, with Prof. Marco Marelli (link to website) as the co-PI from the University of Milano-Bicocca.
- Qualifications
We are seeking candidates with a Ph.D. in a field relevant to this project, such as Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science, or Computer Science. Key qualifications may include significant programming and data-analysis skills in languages such as PsychoPy (Python), MatLab, or R. While familiarity with distributional semantics models is preferred, it is not mandatory.
