Open positions

Position: 2 Postdoctoral Researchers

We are excited to announce two postdoctoral positions funded by an ERC Starting Grant, focusing on the investigation of cognitive maps. This project aims to quantify the role of language experience  in cognitive maps through the use of distributional semantics models. A diverse range of methodologies will be employed, including behavioral studies, eye-tracking, TMS-EEG and fMRI.

The successful candidates will join a vibrant research team at the University of Pavia, one of the world's oldest and most prestigious universities, located less than 40 km from Milan. The principal investigator for this project is Prof. Luca Rinaldi. Duration: Initially 2 years.

We are looking for candidates with a Ph.D. in fields relevant to the project, such as Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science, or Computer Science. Key qualifications include significant programming and data analysis skills in PsychoPy (Python), MatLab, or R. Familiarity with distributional semantics models is preferred but not mandatory.

The research will explore cognitive processes, such as language and semantic memory, involved in spatial representations. These topics will be investigated using computational linguistics models (distributional semantics) and combined with behavioral techniques, eye-tracking, and EEG signal analysis.

Comprehensive details and application instructions are available at the provided links. Please note that the application deadline is September 3rd, 2024.

For additional information, prospective candidates are encouraged to contact Luca Rinaldi directly at: luca.rinaldi@unipv.it.
