Registration for the 93rd UAI General Assembly is open
The General Assembly is the decision-making body of the UAI in which members and associate members are represented. From 1919 to 2013, General Assemblies were held annually. Since 2013, General Assemblies have been held every two years at the invitation of a member Academy of the Union. Over the course of its more than one hundred-year history, the UAI has organised more than 90 General Assemblies on every continent. Brussels is the city that has welcomed UAI delegates the most times (more than fifty times). This is due to the fact that the capital of Belgium hosts the headquarters of the UAI General Secretariat.
The General Assembly deliberates and decides on all matters concerning, in addition to the Members and the Bureau, the management of finances, ongoing scientific projects and research or publication projects submitted to it, as well as on all matters of a general nature.
Decisions of the General Assembly shall be taken by a simple majority of the votes cast, except in the cases specified by the Statutes or by the Internal Rules with which the UAI has provided itself.
