Technical visits

Technical visits are open to the community. To participate in them, it is not mandatory to be registered for the conference, but you must register for each one of them, as they have limited places. Registration for the congress does not guarantee a place on technical visits. There is a fee of R$10.00 to register for technical visits, which includes bus transportation leaving from the conference location (CDC). Participants must arrive at the departure location 15 minutes in advance.

You can choose just one visit each day, as they will occur at overlapping times.

On Sunday, there will be a walk in Mata Santa Genebra open to the community, for which there are no fees, but transportation to the location will not be provided. Still, you need to register, because places are limited.

Visit 1. Sirius particle accelerator

Sirius is a huge and complex scientific infrastructure with one of the most advanced synchrotron light sources in the world. The operations are carried out by the National Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS), which is part of the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), a Social Organization supervised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI).

LNLS is a cutting-edge technology laboratory that covers the investigation of the composition and structure of matter, allowing research advances in the areas of nanotechnology, biotechnology, environmental sciences, materials science, among others, thus contributing to the development of medicines, renewable energy sources, fertilizers, more resistant plant species, among many other applications, generating diverse socioeconomic impacts.

The LNLS is open to the scientific and business community in Brazil and around the world, has multi-user facilities and provides advanced scientific instruments for carrying out academic and industrial research.

Visit 3. Unicamp Scientific and Technological Park

Starting in 2008, the Unicamp Scientific and Technological Park project went through several phases and has been consolidating itself as an ecosystem focused on the transfer of knowledge and innovation. Being located at Unicamp, the environment allows students and researchers to work together with startups, incubator companies and R&D laboratories, generating knowledge applied to emerging technological developments in different sectors and branches of industry.

The partnership between university talents and the private sector, in the same environment, promotes new ideas and businesses that strengthen ties between academia and the market. Advancing this partnership model to include society, the Unicamp Innovation Agency (INOVA), created in 2023, seeks to establish a greater relationship with civil society with the aim of improving and implementing research, teaching and impactful knowledge production activities socio-environmental.

Visit 4. Embrapa Environment

Embrapa Meio Ambiente is a Basic Theme Research Unit, of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), linked to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), active throughout the national territory, with headquarters in the municipality of Jaguariúna, in the interior of São Paulo. Paul. Embrapa Meio Ambiente's focus is on research into environmental management and management in its cross-cutting processes across agricultural production chains, combining the demands of production systems with the needs for conservation of natural resources and environmental preservation.

Research, development and innovations are focused on the interface between agriculture – which includes agricultural, livestock, forestry and agro-industrial activities – and the environment, seeking sustainability.

Visit 5. Jardim Florence community garden

The Jardim Florence Community Garden is the result of the Cultivando Pilot Project, carried out in partnership between multiple third sector organizations – the FEAC Foundation and the social impact business Pé de Feijão – and the public authorities, with the Municipal Council for Food and Nutritional Security of Campinas and the Municipal Council of Campinas. The Federal Institute of Campinas also participates through technical training in agroecology.

The garden opened on July 15, 2023 and involves workshops on agricultural practice, composting, food reuse, classes on nutrition and health, among others. The objectives are to guarantee food security in the region, access to healthy food, strengthening bonds of belonging, bringing knowledge to the local population, also seeking, in the future, to develop income generation projects through urban agriculture.

Visit 6. Mata Santa Geneva

The Area of Relevant Ecological Interest (ARIE) Mata de Santa Genebra, popularly known as Mata de Santa Genebra, is located in the bohemian district of Barão Geraldo, Campinas. Currently the Mata has several environmental education projects, meliponary, butterfly garden, Forest Builders Program, seedling planting, among others, seeking greater participation of citizens in the Mata.

The forest was the former Fazenda Santa Genebra, owned by Barão de Geraldo de Resende, whose heritage was given to the José Pedro de Oliveira family, who preserved around 100 bushels of the forest. In 1981, the area was donated to the city of Campinas by José Pedro's widow, Dona Jandyra Pamplona de Oliveira, on the condition that a Foundation be created to maintain it, named Fundação José Pedro de Oliveira, created by the Executive Branch Municipal. In 1983, the Reserve area was listed as Natural Heritage by the Council for the Defense of Historical, Archaeological, Artistic and Tourist Heritage.
