SMILE! – it is simple, but it is one of the most effective tools you have

Prepare early – make sure the work space is stocked, clean, and prepared for your guests

Start with a positive attitude – BE NICE

Use notes when needed

Think about what questions will help engage your guests

Know and respect the guests

Make guests feel important

Seize the moment if something unique happens

Be aware of your body language and the guests’ – make eye contact

Be loud enough to be heard – ask!

Involve the guests – ask questions

It’s OK to lose your train of thought

TRUST is key – never do anything that could lessen the trust the guests have in you or the winery

It’s OK to say “I don’t know” – but find an answer and get back to the guest if necessary

Pay attention to your pronunciation

Make your presentation multi-sensory when possible

Remember the guest is here to have an enjoyable and fun experience

Laughter and playfulness are important traits

How you say something can be as equally as important as what you say

Evaluate your own presentation after the guests leave
