Concrete Canoe is a competition where you have to prepare, design, and construct a canoe out of concrete to participate in a series of races against other schools. Teams have from August till the Carolina Symposium to have their canoe ready to sail the waters, There are many sub-teams that one can join and participate in. These sub-teams include: Mix Design, Academic, Construction, and the Rowing team.
This sub-team will prepare any submittals that are required for our team to be able to compete. No submittals? No competition!
This sub-team will design what would be the most optimal mix design for the canoe. There is no limit on the number of test batches, so mix away!
This sub-team will be developing the optimal shape and structure of the canoe to maximize its performance in terms of speed, stability, and maneuverability while adhering to competition regulations.
This sub-team will be responsible for designing and executing the visual appearance and artistic elements of the concrete canoe, including its theme, color scheme, and decorative features.
This sub-team will be the team to row the concrete canoe to victory. Anyone can participate in the row team as long as they're willing to practice and bring home the gold.
This sub-team will not only create the canoe design, but also create the mold for the canoe. No need to worry about whether or not you'll get dirty, because you will.
Ella Raftery and Tristan Miller have volunteered to lead our Concrete Canoe Team this upcoming year, competing at the Carolinas Symposium at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte! If you are interested in joining the team, feel free to reach out to Ella, Tristan, or anyone from this year's board at concrete-canoe-asce@charlotte.edu.
