REQUIRED FOR ALL STRINGS
CORRECTLY SIZED INSTRUMENT
All String Players must be MEASURED for their instrument. We recommend that you do not purchase an instrument at this time, unless your child is ready for a FULL SIZED instrument. Ms. Bruner & Ms. Brann can assist with measuring your child during the school year. In the summer months, please visit Music & Arts Center for assistance if needed.

MEASURING FOR THE VIOLA & VIOLIN
Lift the left arm and extend it fully to the side, parallel to the floor with the palm facing upward. Measure from the neck to the middle of the palm.
It’s better to play on an instrument that is a bit smaller than one that is bigger, especially for beginners. See the chart below for the approximate sizing.
MEASURING FOR THE CELLO & STRING BASS
Cello sizing is based on the players height; see our chart for the approximate sizing.
