FAQ
🎵 When do lessons begin?
The week of Monday, September 16, 2024 (tentatively)
Lesson schedules will be distributed by your music teacher via parent email and Google Classroom.
🎵 When do instrumental music lessons occur?
Lessons occur during the school day on a 7-week rotation pull-out schedule.Â
Students will receive one 30-minute small group lesson each week.Â
🎵 Where can I find the lesson schedule?
Lesson schedules are shared with families via email, and can also be found in your child's instrumental music Google Classroom.
🎵 Does my child need to bring a music stand to school?
Leave your music stand at home for practice. We have music stands to use at school!
🎵 What do students need in order to participate in a fun and successful lesson?
Students should come prepared each week with their instrument, lesson book, and chromebook. Â
Music stands can stay home for personal practice.Â
🎵 Can my child leave their instrument at school?
No! Your child's instrument arrives at school with them, and leaves with them to take home to play!Â
Those who love to play-- practice! And those who practice-- love to play!
🎵 What happens if my child accidentally forgets his/her instrument at home on their lesson day?
Students should report to their lesson to inform their instrumental music teacher about their preparedness level for that day. Students will gain information on how to be successful for the next lesson.
🎵 Are there any commitments for students outside of the school day?
Students are expected to practice their instruments at home.Â
Students that are eligible and choose to participate in band or string ensemble will have rehearsals once a week in the morning before school on specific dates (beginning in late January/early February).
🎵 Will there be concerts/performances to look forward to this coming school year?
Eligible, experienced players that choose to participate in an ensemble will have a Winter and Spring performance. Eligible beginners' debut performance is held in the Spring.Â
Please see the "About our Program - Ensembles" page for more information.
🎵 Can students begin private lessons or attend an instrument camp over the summer?
We always encourage students to seek private instruction. Upper Moreland Summer Arts Camp is also a great option for students to continue playing during the summer once they have completed their first year of instrumental music.Â
