The Role of a Subcommittee Chair/Co-chair
The duties of the subcommittee chair/co-chairs are to:
Attend all P&A Senate meetings.
Attend all monthly PACC meetings.
Organize and lead monthly meetings of the subcommittee.
Provide continuity and succession planning as subcommittee leadership and membership changes from year to year.
Create an annual work plan document to guide the work of the subcommittee.
Create an end of year report to be sent to the PACC chair and chair-elect.
Assist in goal setting, senate work plan, and reactions to current issues.
The chair/co-chairs coordinate the meeting, sends the agenda (and any relevant materials) ahead of time, and will often take and distribute the minutes. Many committee members attend the monthly meetings in person, but conference calls and Google Hangout are also available. In all, being a subcommittee chair/co-chair requires approximately 8 hours per month, including planning and meetings with the subcommittee, PACC, and full Senate.
All subcommittee chairs/co-chairs also serve on the P&A Consultative Committee (PACC), which meets once per month (2021-22 meeting schedule).
Subcommittee Chair/Co-chair Terms of Office
Subcommittee chairs are elected for one-year terms and may be re-elected for no more than three consecutive years. An individual may chair only one committee or subcommittee of the University Senate, the P&A Senate, the Faculty Senate, the Civil Service Senate, and the Student Senate at a time. Terms of chairs begin July 1 and terminate June 30. See also:
