With support from unit marketing communications leads as well as key stakeholders across the college, we have migrated our CEHD main and unit academic websites from outdated, homegrown technology to Drupal as well as 100s of tertiary sites across the college to Drupal.
We are shifting our focus to improvements in accessibility, user experience and journeys on our sites, and developing our digital ecosystem. Learn more about our digital transformation:
As unit sites have migrated to Drupal with Site Studio, new needs from a site editor and user perspective have become more clear. CEHD's DXS - Digital Experience Strategy (formerly Web Advisory Group) meets weekly to discuss these needs, and when the group determines a site enhancement to meet these needs will support the majority of sites, that improvement is added to our regular, every three week enhancement schedule.
In addition, we are planning improvements to user journeys in key areas, such as:
Created faculty and staff profile pages to better meet the needs of both faculty and prospective students. (Completed summer 2025)
Building a Connect Magazine presence that differentiates the online publication from our academic unit sites. (fall 2025 issue)
Developing better landing pages for our academic programs that share the information that is most important to prospective students.
Program webpage project (2025-26)
Continuing to make improvements in digital accessibility, which will also improve user experience. (April 2026)
Writing content based on SEO keywords that helps get prospective students to our information more efficiently. (ongoing)
Regularly assessing needs to improve our user journeys through weekly DXS meetings. (ongoing)
We recognize that the work to improve our user journeys goes beyond our websites. With a main focus on prospective students, we will work to build out our digital ecosystem.
This starts by designing better user experiences on our academic program landing pages and using keywords that resonate with our audiences. And it's supported by request for information forms that share user data in integrated ways that support user journeys through personalized email drip marketing campaigns. This work requires that systems like our application system Slate, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and our websites are all connected. In addition, we must meet prospective student where they are at in the funnel and consider advertising via Google and social media platforms depending on the program's need.
CEHD hosts a number of tertiary sites for research, project, and academic unit level centers. Many of these sites are on old Wordpress platforms. Some are on other, older homegrown systems. During this stage of the project, we will support unit marketing communications leads in building Drupal sites. As much as possible, unit communicators will migrate content to these sites themselves.
This work will help support our effort to meet the digital accessibility standards necessary to comply with recent Department of Justice clarifications of Title II of the ADA which we must comply with by April 2026. Key to meeting accessibility standards will be eliminating old, outdated content so we have fewer sites and less content to maintain from a digital accessibility standpoint.
Unit communicators who are migrating content can review our Unit Site Tools page for support.
