To ensure you are fully prepared for orientation and to begin your MBA program the University, CBCC, Academic department, and Academic Affairs & Student Engagement Team has assigned pre-work and tasks to complete before orientation. All of these due dates are included below and will be added to as more communications are sent out leading up to orientation.
Prior to Orientation, MBA students must initialize their University of Minnesota Internet and e-mail accounts to receive critical program information. Students are responsible for the e-mail sent to their University account. We ask that students check the University e-mail account daily starting in Spring 2023 as it is the primary form of communication with MBA students. If you encounter any issues with initialization, please contact UMN Central IT.
The University of Minnesota requires all students to complete the vaccination requirement. Failure to complete the requirement may result in a registration hold on you student account. You must complete this requirement by the 6th week of your first semester.
If you plan to apply for federal financial assistance, you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The University of Minnesota's financial aid counselors at One Stop Student Services will not be able to discuss your financial aid options until your FAFSA is received.
Detailed instructions on how to apply for financial aid may be found on OneStop's Financial Aid page. You will need your tax information to complete your FAFSA. Federal financial aid for the 2023-24 academic year is based on the information in your previous tax returns . The UMN school code is: 003969. If you have questions about financial aid, contact Jim Parker, j-park1@umn.edu or 612-626-0750.
The My Finances tab in the MyU portal provides personalized information on your financial aid progress. Contact One Stop Student Services for questions regarding financial aid or visit the Finances & Tuition page.

We recommend bookmarking this site, as you will reference frequently throughout your program.
The MBA Academic Resource site is hosted within Canvas, the University's online learning management system. This site houses degree planning tools and links to academic and policy information. You will receive access to this site in Summer 2023 and will receive an invitation to the Canvas course.
The Graduate Business Career Center will assign both required and recommended pre-work that can all be viewed on the Career Pre-Work page and should be completed before orientation begins. These assignments will be posted in Summer 2023 and will have further communications sent out regarding the steps.

All Carlson Full-Time MBA students are required to create a U Card. Your U Card is required for after-hours access to the Carlson School and Hanson Hall buildings, breakout rooms, and the textbook rental program. You can obtain your U Card by visiting the main U Card office on the ground floor of Coffman Memorial Union or the satellite U Card office at the Coffman Memorial Union information desk. You can also upload a photo beforehand on the UCard website.
