Lululemon and the University of Minnesota bookstore are collaborating to bring merchandise to students, faculty and many more this fall.
While details are under wraps, students shared their thoughts on the partnership and whether they would be heading to the bookstore come fall to shop the collection.
"I kinda like lululemon,” Miguel Fernandanes, a former student, said. “They're kinda pricey so hopefully the bookstore drops those prices."
Hung-I Wan, a second-year student, said the collaboration is cool and would consider buying something.
"I do like their stuff and I do think it's high quality and so I think it's kinda fun that's an option now," Callie Else, a first-year student said. Else has seen this happen before and she's happy to hear the news.
"I did part of my undergrad at Arizona state and they had the collab and, like, I'm obviously wearing lululemon right now," Else said.
Including Arizona State, almost 30 universities around the country offer merchandise that carries both the logo of Lululemon and the school, generating high levels of excitement — and high prices.
"If it gets too specific with the designs I don't think I'd want to spend lululemon sort of money on it," Reese Christensen, a fourth-year student said.
Tabatha Nelson, another fourth-year student, said she only has one pair of Lulu leggings but beyond that it is too expensive for her.
Some Lululemon sweatshirts retail upwards of $100. A similar sweatshirt from the U is priced at $69.99
"I really do like lululemon, but when it comes to buying through the U, I don't like to spend a lot of money," Christensen said.
The cost of living for most students is about to increase after the Board of Regents agreed to a tuition hike this coming school year, according to the Minnesota Daily.
Srijan Banerjee, a first-year student, said the idea of a collaboration between Lulu and the bookstore is nice, but understands how expensive the active wear brand can be.
"I feel like there being more than just the bookstore to shop for clothes on campus would be nice," Banerjee said.
