To take a course through UNITE, you will be required to request a permission number from the department of the course you plan to take through UNITE and the registration will be completed by student themselves. You will see an 883 section listed when you are searching courses if it has the UNITE option or you can go to their course offerings page.
If a student is interested in registering for the online section of a course, they will need to fill out a Permission Number Request Form.
Here is the direct link to the page with the ECE permission request form
https://z.umn.edu/ECEonUNITEform
You will find all the department's forms on their course offerings page
https://cse.umn.edu/unite/enroll-through-unite
You will want to pick the link for the department that corresponds to the class you want to take. Each department may have a different process. For ECE permission numbers, once you fill out the form and it is received by the department, we will verify you can take a class through UNITE and you will be issued a permission number. You will be responsible for registering in the course yourself, UNITE no longer processes the registration.
If you have a time conflict with another course, you will need to fill out the University's Class Time Conflict Approval request. You will want to get a permission number for the course you want to take through UNITE first and make sure you are using the #883 Class number when filling out the time conflict form.
Homework & Exams
By enrolling in an UNITE class section, you agree to follow the in-person class homework and exam schedule. It is your responsibility to work with the course instructor if you need to schedule an alternate exam date.
Instructor approval of all alternate exam dates must be forwarded to UNITE@umn.edu.
Proctoring
If your course is conducting paper-based exams, you must identify a proctor who will be physically present to monitor your exams. You are responsible for scheduling exam appointments directly with the proctor, and UNITE will handle exam submissions.
An alternate option to scheduling appointments with a proctor is completing exams on-campus with the on-campus class section.
Students must be in the U.S. during the semester UNLESS travel is approved by the instructor.
