• Major coursework must be taken A-F. Grades of C- or lower will not be accepted for the program.
• Major course work must be numbered EE 4XXX (subject to the 4XXX Rule), EE 5XXX or EE 8XXX and be regular coursework.

• No seminars, independent study or special investigation courses can apply toward meeting this 6 credit requirement.
• Non-EE coursework that is cross-listed with Electrical Engineering counts only towards the EE major requirement.
• To designate a minor, please talk with the minor department to learn their requirements.
• Plan A thesis credits can be registered for at any time during a master’s student’s degree program and can be split between multiple semesters.

• A maximum of nine 4000-level course credits may be used to satisfy master’s degree requirements. Of these, only six credits may be EE coursework. No 4xxx-level seminars, projects or directed study courses can be used.
• Partial credits from a course are not accepted. To petition to use more than 9 credits, you will need to fill out and submit this form for review. Your faculty advisor will need to sign it first and then pass it along to the ecedgsoffice@umn.edu for the DGS and College approval.
• Non-EE 4XXX coursework will only be accepted from the following list: Non-EE 4000 Level Courses Acceptable for Graduate Credit . If you find a course not on this list that you want reviewed, please send the request and copy of the syllabus to ecedgsoffice@umn.edu for review.
