Following the A2 Carbon Neutrality Plan, Summit Pointe will not only be created as a profitable and equitable development, providing essential workforce housing but it will be created in a sustainable, green manner.
According to data from the City of Ann Arbor, residential, commercial, and institutional buildings account for 68% of community-wide emissions (City of Ann Arbor, “Community-wide Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report”, October 2020). In an attempt to mitigate these negative byproducts of commercial development, Summit Pointe will feature a variety of modern, clean energy-focused products to create a carbon-neutral development.
Summit Pointe, totaling 14,520 sf, will be a complete energy-efficient building, able to run independently off the grid whilst providing excess energy for neighbors. The average commercial building in the United States utilizes 15 kWh per square foot per year, creating a total energy utilization of Summit Pointe of 217,800 kWh. Due to the Solar, VAWT, and Geothermal HVAC systems within the building, Summit Point will be completely self-reliant on energy and will be able to put more energy into the grid in years with high wind or sun.
