Ethan Kolby is a Ph.D. student starting in Fall 2024 advised by Professor Max Z. Li at the University of Michigan. His research interests include control of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), optimization of multiple UAS, and the intersection of UAS with machine learning and artificial intelligence. He earned his Bachelor's of Aerospace Engineering degree in 2024 from the University of Minnesota. While at the University of Minnesota he researched and developed control algorithms for novel quadcopter-based systems.
In his free time, Ethan enjoys playing Magic: the Gathering competitively, competing in the U.S. National Tournament twice with an eye for the international stage. He also enjoys staying active through weightlifting, rock climbing, and hiking.
