Role of the Bioinformatics Core

The primary role of the core is to consult on bioinformatics projects with researchers. This starts as early as experimental design of -omics studies, then continues with developing reproducible workflow and analysis, and finally to supporting manuscript publication with figures and text. 

There are a number of secondary duties of the core which include:

• training staff/trainees in the use of bioinformatics tools

• developing reproducible pipelines

• building of internal and external eye-specific bioinformatics resources
