Lesson 3: Down to the Core!

Overview

Students learn how scientists study tree growth. They count and measure tree growth rings using enlarged photos of tree cores, and predict how temperature and precipitation influence tree growth.

Learning Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • Count and measure tree rings.

  • Record measurements into a data sheet.

  • Predict how precipitation and temperature will influence tree growth.
