Field Trip

Overview

Students visit a local forest to discuss the abiotic and biotic factors that influence tree growth. They also examine tree growth patterns using observations and by collecting scientific data using a variety of equipment. 

Learning Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • Describe and predict how abiotic and biotic factors that influence tree growth.

  • Collect tree growth measurements using different types of equipment.

  • Discuss how climate change might affect the forest ecosystem they visited.
