Wig Crew
March - April 2024
As a part of the Theatre Arts degree requirement, we complete a backstage skill area in a university production. This opera was directed by Gregory Keller and produced by the University of Michigan Music Department. On my committee, we handled all of the wigs and hair pieces for over twenty runs of the opera. Each cast member had elaborate hairstyles or wigs that my team securely aided in the placement and removal.
Scenic Production Assistant
January 2023 - February 2024
Within SMTD, there are a plethora of work-study opportunities exclusive to students in which you can gain professional development in the design aspect of production. So far in my career through the University of Michigan, I have helped produce the theatrical scenery needed in Michigan's 2022-2023 and 20223-2024 Music, Dance, Musical Theatre, and Drama productions. This experience has left me with a knowledge of a specialized technical aspect of production, and a broad understanding regarding safety initiatives necessary in production.
Technical Assistant, Microphones
November 2022
During the production of Little Shop of Horrors by Howard Ashman, I worked backstage under sound design. My job consisted of putting microphones on all cast members, communicating with the soundboard, and ensuring stable connections so that cast members could be heard well by the audience. In this job, it was necessary to think quickly on your feet, in the case that there was a microphone failure.
