Event Logistics: 2/8/2025, Personal Project, Paper Vine Wall Art
#visualart, #wallart #presentation #PaperMedium
For my Arts-tryatholon I have decided to try paper wall art using construction paper, scissors, and acrylic paint. My Idea came from me wanting to liven up my room a bit more to complement the posters I have on my wall. As for the wall art I decided to make it by painting random shapes using acrylic paint to add small dots to create dotted line art for more visual appeal. For this process though it seems pretty simple, it actually took me quite a while just to create those shapes and color patterns within them. I’m still pondering on if I want to add dot art in all the shapes but given time I may have to resort to only a few having vibrant colors. Once I am done with my shaping and painting of them, I will cut out those pieces and plaster them on my wall. I chose the color green to give my artwork the appearance of a vine no it can curve and shape itself weirdly similarly to how I will tape it to my wall. Learning from art scholars that it's beneficial to try new mediums and experiment. I took it upon myself to try something new and look at paper art. I use paper of course for sketching but construction paper and cutting shapes to create different shapes I haven’t done ever. From this experience it was fun to see the duality of paper and how we can utitlize it for many different forms of art. Whenever I have free time I think I will indulge myself more with this medium form its easy access and stress free art making.
Event Logistics (03/07/2025, Arts Scholars: Craft & Chats, The Art of Block Printing)
#visualart #printmaking #acrylicpaint
For my Art’s Try-atholon I decided to join Nivi’s craft and chat to create ink block printmaking. The craft and chat consisted of grabbing a preferred bag of our choice and grabbing ink blocks we feel best suit our creative needs. The Ink blocks I chose were a butterfly, a spiral, and flowers. At first I had no idea of what i wanted to create with the blocks I chosen so I decided to test run on scrap paper Nivi had around. Eventually I came up with making my pouch focus on the theme of nature from the flowers and butterfly that I chose.
For my Color design choice I decided to choose purple, green and a color closely to brown. I didn’t choose anything too bright because I felt it would go against the idea of nature that I had picture in my head. I wanted to incorporate more earth like tones to resemble nature better. The process of print making wasn’t as hard as I thought it was which was cool. Sometime the graphic tools didn’t show up fully so I had to paint where the gaps were. But for the most part all of them came out perfect! From my major of learning the construct of themes. I think it is important to lear what themes you want to incorporate into your artworks. That way you and others that view you work will understand the premise that you’re going for.
Event Logistics 03/26/2025, Craft & Chat, Paper Clip Jewelry
#visualart, #jewelry #fashion
For my 3rd Tryatholon, I decided to join TA Sophia’s craft and chat. Her craft and chat focused on paper clip jewelry. When I walked in, she had both silver paper clips and colorful paper clips to choose from. For my own jewelry, I decided to use the silver paperclips at the second biggest size she had. At first, I did not know what to make, but she told me I could choose from rings, earrings, key chains, etc. It took a bit of trial and error to determine what I wanted to do, but I just went with a ring since it seemed like the easiest thing to do. I broke the paper clip down with the pliers she had and used them to curve it around my finger. As I coiled it around my finger, I started to think of a design I could add. It wasn’t the best, but I just decided on a little “swirl” if you could call it that. Overall, this experience was very unique. I never thought of paper clips as an accessory, but it is a nice approach to thinking outside the box when it comes to fashion. Learning from Art scholars of learning new things and mediums that we could learn to incorporate into our own lives, this opportunity was great to expand on the idea. Learning papers clips can be versatile, it makes me feel ready to explore outside the common items that I use.
