Event Logistics (1/28/2024- Present, Solo Work, Mini Acrylic Project)
#Visualart, #Acrylic
After winter break I decided that I needed to get back into Acrylic painting. It’s been months since I last did it and decided to create a new project and finish it whenever i have enough free time. The project at first was described a self portrait, with a different art style I have never tried before. I think this was a way of being free of my own creativity and not restricting myself to how it looks anatomy-wise. In the process of making it, it seemed really fun when it came to designing the piece. It was sort of like a natural state of the way we look as people. That was the message I was going for which is why I colored her hair a certain way aligned with the wines around her. One of the easiest things that I had so far was defining blending between the colors brighter colors and the color choices themselves. I think I did well with the hair, it's something that I’m proud of with the highlights and shading. My favorite color choices so far are the use of green and the shades of how that could affect the visual of a picture. One of the hardest things that hit me during the process would be the way I would have to shade the skin or how I would be able to if I thought it was appropriate. I had tried before but some of the color choices I used started to mess up the painting. What I learned from that is I should relearn some of the colors that mix well and how I could blend darker colors on top of lighter ones.
Event Logistics (3/11/2024, UMD Art Scholars, Admitted Student Open House)
#presentation
Recently, I signed up for a Q&A open house for all the prospective art scholars here at UMD. I was a part of a group of freshmen, sophomores, and one junior here on campus. At first, I was a little nervous considering I would have to be in front of a huge crowd of people but remember that they're probably as shy as well, since they have no idea what the idea of college is like. Harold started with a general introduction, the premise of art scholars, while Heather went into what colloquium is and other characteristics like arts tryatholon. A few times throughout their speech, they pointed to us, the panelists, to back them up on a couple of experiences. I talked about my favorite field trip thus far, which was Cirqu de Solei over the fall semester. After the general information session, we split into two groups for our Q&A session. I talked with the group of prospective students and a couple of questions asked to me were “What made me choose this school?”, and some projects that had to make throughout the program. Most were inherently listening to me, but a majority of the questions could only be answered by our sophomores. Overall, the experience felt very worthwhile, it gave me a leadership opportunity to be a spokesperson for those who need help this would especially help with my considerate major in business. Also, it was a chance to gain some small connections with the students who do possibly think of attending next school year. I think this was a good oprutnity to work on my speaking skills while being truthful to how much the program has taught and given me.

Event Logistics (3/31/2024, Arts Advisory Board, Trinkets and Smores)
#event #food, #egghunting, # AAB
Recently I went to one of the AAB events called Trinkets and Smores, where we made Smores over one of the grills and had a little egg hunt after sometime after the events. For me, I ate about two smores, and it was really fun to make them myself since I hadn't made them over a fire before. As well as the egg hunt, I tried finding different eggs but I never found anything which was a bummer. What I enjoyed most about it was others finding stuff and getting happy about what they found. There was also supposed to be pizza there, and from the organizers, it was a bit of trouble getting the pizza. I didn't stay fully until the end to know if people got any or not but it was still enjoyable either way. This art scholars event helped me remember the importance of community and having fun. It has been a while since I had a relaxing evening given that we just finished midterms and are on track for a few more, especially for myself in math and other courses. It is essential that I can find joy in small things and not feel stressed all the time.
