For the Next-Now fest I went to Silent Disc-Glo with a couple of my friends from my dormitory hall floor and other buildings. It was September 8th at The Clarice courtyard around 9pm. They gave us a pair of headphones and we had the option of three music choices.I know for the Green channel it has some sort of weird tastes of music for me so preferably not my style. Honestly all of them took a little bit to get into because I have never listened to that type of music ever. But as I got into it I switched to Red and that was EDM music and me and my friends danced the night away. Honestly, for my first experience with EDM Music it was better than I expected. Especially for no lyrics, all you need is the beat to feel good about it.I think one of the best parts of the night would be these four guys who were jamming out entirely. They were jumping around screaming and just scrambling around the courtyard. Eventually a lot of people including me and my friends surrounded them to make a hype circle and people jumped in and out after they finished their piece. Me and my friends were laughing at their antics but overall I would say everything that happened felt so surreal.

During this craft and chat we made our own perler bead designs hosted by one of the TAs. Her name was Alyssa and she gave us a variety of colors to choose from perler boards and helped us apply them if we had any trouble. During my time I made a butterfly and a heart-shaped “potion”. I just came up with it on a whim and realized how fun this would be as a hobby. I enjoyed this craft and chat because it definitely tests your creativity and how you approach ways of making stuff. Especially by trying it for the first time, I never realized that it can be so hard to make a butterfly. After I finished creating my butterfly, Alyssa helped me with ironing it out so all the perleer beads would connect together. From that, I learned that it’s two ways you can iron them. One way flat is to do one-sided which is ironing one side of the Perler beads to give it a flat look but leaving the other side completely similar to the original look before the iron touches it. The other way would be ironing both sides so they equally get a flattering look, the only outcome of this is that the beads begin to look very smushed together than pixelated squares. Overall, My experience with this was very fun I learned about myself and what I can pick up while also thinking this can be a potential hobby for me in the future.

#visualart, #watercolor #painting
For my Tryatholon I made a painting using watercolor. I didn't have a set goal of what to create but as I started painting I just let my creativity flow and ended up doing something nature-related. There were a lot of people that attended this event and I sat next to my roommate and a couple of people that I have met through colloquium and other classes. We talked about what to make complimented each other's work. Some finished earlier than others while I still stayed to complete my artwork. I didn't like most of my work especially since I do not know how to properly use watercolors. But others encouraged me to believe that it was really good and that I shouldn't down myself on it. Even if the way they said it felt like tough love. Overall, the experience seemed to be very reflective of what I consider good art. I think I hold myself to a greater standard that artwork always has to be perfect even though it doesn’t. Art can look weird sometimes, not every artist is going to have a perfect day continuously. So I just have to learn how to go with the flow realizing every art I create is exceptional, no matter how much time or thoughtful effort goes into it.
