Event Logistics (09/05/2024, Next Now Fest, Maryland Night Live)

For my first Tryatholon of the semester, I decided to go to TA Mark’s Craft and Chat called Maryland Live. In its essence, it's similar to Saturday not live, and curated by student comedians around campus. I wanted this to be my first Tryatholon since I have never been to a comedy show before and I felt this would be more engaging since it’s a new experience. We arrived at the Clarice to watch the performance and all the seats seemed to fill out pretty fast which was nice to see a full house. The first act started with them acting as the Supreme Court when it came to making decisions and how none of them essentially didn’t know how to help run a country. They brought back some of the old Supreme Court representatives they had recently passed making fun of all of the decisions they have made in today's society. This scene ended in a large argument at the end which led to the main director thanking us for coming, giving us a bit of standup, and then beginning the rest of the show. My second favorite skit of the night was the Chucky Cheese Mafia one. They had Chucky talking to the rest of the gang about meeting quotas for tickets each night. Some didn't make it and others did, which led to some people being dragged off screaming. Their acting skills were A1 and made the experience perfect and laughable. Towards the end, they had a band called the Odyssey play and their songs almost sounded like whimsical medieval, pretty soothing. Overall from this experience, it helped me remember the importance of trying something new. You never really know what you love until you try it.
Event Logistics (10/09/2024, Craft & Chat, Friendship Bracelets)
#visualart, #3dArt #StringArt #Bracelet
For my Arts Tryatholon, I have decided to go and do the friendship bracelet craft and chat held by TA Melody. For the duration, I learned how to make a string bracelet from seven pieces of string using a sliced up piece of cardboard and the string itself. It seemed pretty easy. We made each string about half an arm's length and put them all through a tiny hole that was punched into the cardboard. TA Melody told us to tie the end about three times and then place each string into their own individual slit. The TA told us to at least have one slit without any string in them. She called the open slit 11 o’clock. Moving the bottom string, 6 o’clock into the 11 o’clock spot, we rotate the cardboard and repeat that same process. For the remainder that I had stayed for the craft and chat I got close to a fourth of the bracelet done. The only thing about making bracelets is that they take a long time to finish. However, once you get into a rhythm you seem to weave really fast. By the end, I felt like I was flying by until the end of the craft and chat. I feel this relates to Arts in teaching us a variety of mediums and having an instructor teach us. Since I want to be in charge of doing a workshop I found this craft and chat useful in the way she explained carefully, and helped with any questions I had along the way. Those teaching skills would help my students understand better.

Event Logistics (10/23/24, AAB, Pumpkin Painting)
#visualart, #film, #painting
For my Art’s Try-atholon I decided to go and watch the movie for the pumpkin painting held a couple of weeks back. I didn’t sign up in time to make any pumpkins but I went just to watch the movie. There were a lot of people painting over the pumpkins they had brought, and surprised they were so small. But I thought it was cute for a little chibi version of an actual pumpkin. They also had snacks like chips for us to eat some candy corn and had the tiny boxes of the pumpkins on the table. It was a cute small fall aesthetic going on which I really liked and gave more to the mood of Halloween approaching. But again I didn't sign up in time so I just went to go and watch the remainder of the movie they had on which was Coraline. I thought that was a nice addition to bring in the spooky season. I feel as though, for the time I spent at the event it would help me in supporting my major creating fun and engaging ways to bring people together to try and make room for leisure. As we know marketing is all about being creative and having fun ideas I feel like this AAB event embodied that perfectly or creative programs.
