ERSP follows a rolling deadline. This means that applications are reviewed for eligibility as they come in. Once seats are filled (depending on how many projects are available from CICS research labs), the application form is closed. It is best to apply as soon as the application process starts.
Selection is a two-step process. In the first step, the eligibility criteria are checked and applicants are informed of the outcome. In the second step, the applicant's essay questions are reviewed before final selection is made.
Each applicant's (anonymized) motivation, contribution, and participation statements are reviewed by faculty/advisors/teaching associates and given a score. The applicants are then ranked and informed of acceptance to the program. If there are more eligible applicants than there are slots in the program, we randomly select participants from the set of eligible applicants.
The selection process is completed by the time registration opens in Spring. Accepted participants are automatically enrolled in CS237 in Fall.
ERSP is open only to CICS students enrolled in Computer Science and Informatics majors.
