Non-Malaysian seeking to work in Universiti Malaya would have to apply for a valid employment pass from the Immigration Department of Malaysia and this process will be assist by the Visa and Employment Pass Unit, Human Talent Management Centre (HTM), Human Resource Department.

Professional Visit Pass
The position is non salaried.
The maximum duration is 12 months. No extensions are allowed after the contract/project finished or exceeded 12 months.
Freelancer or unemployed applicant will be denied to engage in contracted activity in the institution.
Not eligible to obtain Dependent Pass for spouse / children / biological father & mother.
Application for VDR from country of origin.
Cannot apply when applicant is in Malaysia.
Dependent Pass
Legal spouse of Employment Pass holder.
Children below 18 years old (biological, stepchild, legally adopted) of Employment Pass holder.
Employment or study is not allowed and requires conversion of Employment Pass or Student Pass.
Change of partner is not allowed and requires conversion to Employment Pass or Student Pass.
Renewal of the Dependent Pass depends on the principal Employment Pass.
Application must be submitted together with the principal for VDR application from country of origin.
3. Social Visit Pass (Long Term)
Children over 18 years old until 25 years old are eligible for Social Visit Pass (Long Term) including stepchild/ legally adopted child (except for children with disabilities).
Parents & Parents-in-law of Employment Pass holder Common law spouse of Employment Pass holder can be considered.
Allows the holder to stay in West Malaysia.
Employment is not allowed and requires conversion to Employment Pass.
Change of partner is not allowed for common law spouse.
One (1) time application.
VDR application is from country of origin if the dependent is outside Malaysia.
Passport holders must obtain a new international regular passport to apply for EP/PVP if they have the following passports:
Issued for working or as dependent in the Embassy in Malaysia.
Issued for travelling overseas on official government business.
Issued by a country to non-citizens residing within their borders who are stateless.
Children who are registered within the parents’ passport (each child must have their own international regular passport).
Conditions that may constitute damage that require replacement include water damage, a significant tear, unofficial markings on the data page, missing visa pages (torn out), a hole punch, or materially changed in physical appearance or composition.
Passport holders can only renew the passport six (6) months before the passport expired.
Blank pages should be more than 6 pages.
Staff must submit their passport to Visa & Non-Citizen Unit, Human Talent Management, Universiti Malaya immediately to obtain the Employment Pass/Professional Visit Pass. The passport should be submitted before the staff reports for duty at their respective department/faculty.
Failure to submit the passport immediately (within 7 days after arrival in Malaysia) will result in cancellation of visa and a penalty/fine by the Immigration Department.
