Arrive on time. It can be disruptive to the class if you arrive after class has begun. Once you arrive, find a seat that is not occupied by a student. If there are no empty seats, you may have to stand.
Check in and out for the LLA class session using the timesheet and fill out the options that apply to your class.
You will be most active at the start of class and during pair/group work.
At the start of class: If instructor pre-approves, briefly present one of your Instagram posts. Show the image and summarize what you wrote. Ideally do this by posing some questions: for example, "How many of you would like to visit a French-speaking country?" You can also remind students about peer tutoring by showing them the online tutoring calendar.
Pair work/ group work: When the students have moved around and formed groups, you will stand up and walk around the room. Try to interact with any groups with which the teacher is not actively working (see here for some tips and guidelines). Once the group work task is done, quietly return to your seat.
During the rest of the time, you will be quietly following along with the rest of the class. This means keeping the class materials open and paying attention to the teacher (you usually will not intervene or answer questions unless the teacher asks you to). As you become more familiar with the instructor and the class group, you will develop more precise ideas of how to assist the instructor and the learners in the class.
Always stay on task with the class: don't work on anything else.
