WELCOME TO FRENCH at UIC!
Read and take notes on the assigned pages before coming to class. We'll review what you studied during class.
Carefully read the pages listed on the assignment calendar for your level. Click one of the following links: FR103 - FR104
Take notes while you study the vocabulary words and grammar explanations. Taking notes both while you study and while you are in class will help you better understand and remember the material. Research shows that students who take notes feel better about the class material and do better on homework and exams. Here are some suggestions about how to take notes. There are lots of different ways to take notes: whatever way works for you is the best way for you!
Contact your instructor with any questions (email, office hours, tutoring hours).
*Faire du Chemin is a free Open Educational resource created by the UIC French Basic Language Program.
UIC French instructors created Faire du chemin with you in mind.
Faire du chemin means “making progress,” and we encourage you to think about your own language and culture learning as making progress. It’s very much like learning formulas in biology or chemistry, or learning to read music. You begin by memorizing pieces, and then putting them together. Making mistakes is part of the learning process.
To receive credit, activities must be completed before class by 9:00 a.m. every day activities are due. Click one of the following links: FR103 - FR104

The exercises on Blackboard help you understand and practice the material, and the site gives you instant feedback. These activities prepare you for what will be taught and reviewed in every class period:
