APPLYING TO UNIVERSITY


STEP 1: BEFORE YOU APPLY

1. Research your university program options and have them ready to go! Deadline to apply is: Mid January

2. You will need your School Number, Student Number (OEN), and Personal Identification Number (PIN)

3. Determine how you will pay (3 choices for base fee: $150, additional choice fee: $50/choice)

  • Credit card ( MasterCard, Visa, or American Express)

  • Online banking (Normally takes 1-3 business days)


OUAC will NOT process your application without the application fee


STEP 2: APPLYING ONLINE

1. Go to www.ouac.on.ca/ouac-101. Scroll down and select 101 Online Application, then select Login.


2. Type in your School Number, Student Number and PIN#. Select Log in now. You must change your PIN to a personal password. Make a note of it for your records. Use your password (instead of your PIN) the next time you log in.


3. Under Application Links on the left side navigation bar, select Browse Program. Select your university programs in one of the three ways given. Alternately, use “Fast-track” to choose by program codes. Selecting by university, however, may be the easiest way.


4. Once you have selected a program REVIEW the admission requirements before adding the program.

Complete program details then click “add program”.

Many universities limit students to a maximum of 3 program choices at any one university (including their affiliates). Make sure you check this information from the university directly. Read the details carefully.


5. The programs you have chosen will now be on the screen. Check each choice for the following:

a) Do you have the specific admission requirements that are listed?

b) Is there a supplementary application required?

c) Check all the program details to make sure you have selected the correct program code.


6. Once you have selected your programs, proceed to the Order Choices tab. Ordering may affect admission or scholarships if the university specifies this in their literature. Number your choices in order of preference.


7. Review your Personal and Address Information. Check it for accuracy and make changes where necessary. * add your email address(DO NOT USE UG CLOUD), as this is the primary mode of communication between the universities and applicants.


8. The universities require you to answer 8 questions under the Additional Questions tab.


9. Review Academic Information and report errors to the guidance office. You cannot change this section; it can only be done by a Guidance Counselor.


10. Once you click the Submit tab, you will confirm all the information on your application. Print it for your records. To make changes, return to the specific application steps.


11. Select the I verify and agreeto proceed to the payment screen.


12. Choose a method of payment and select the Continue button; you will immediately receive an OUAC Reference Number. OUAC cannot process your application without the application fee.


13. Print the screen displaying your OUAC Reference Number and further instructions (it’s the screen right after the final Submit step). Whenever you communicate with OUAC, you will need to provide this number.


14. Store your OUAC Reference Number and PIN in a safe place. You will need them to log back into your application to review your information, make changes to it, and to respond to offers of admission.


DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION A SECOND TIME!

APPLYING TO COLLEGE


STEP 1: BEFORE YOU APPLY


1. Explore your college options and have them ready to go! Deadline to apply is: February 1st

2. Have a valid email address

3. Know your Ontario Education Number (OEN) which is found on your report card or high school transcript, Social Insurance Number (SIN), correct address/postal code

4. Determine how you will pay ($95 for 5 program choices, with no more than 3 at any one college)

  • Credit Card (online or by telephone 1-888-892-2228)

  • Online banking payment,

  • Cheque/Money Order: Delivered/mailed to address below (you will need your application number written on your certified cheque or money order for this method)



STEP 2: CREATING AN ACCOUNT (IF YOU HAVE DONE THIS, THEN GO TO STEP 3)


  1. Log into www.ontariocolleges.ca

  2. Select Apply then Create an Account then Sign Up. Your username is your email address (DO NOT USE UG CLOUD) or you can create a unique username. Your user name is permanent. Your password must be between 8 and 14 characters in length and must have one number and one character (#,%,$, etc.)

  3. Activate your account. DO NOT CREATE MORE THAN ONE ACCOUNT



STEP 3: COMPLETE “MY PROFILE” Complete CHOOSING YOUR PROGRAMS


  1. Login using the username and password you created in Step 2 above.

  2. Complete all the required information/steps in My Profile; don’t forget to add your address and in the Education Tab make sure you select that you are a current Ontario high school student, and find your school button to add Erin DHS

  3. Add Job Experience and/or Activities

  4. Record your application and account numbers, and then select “Continue”.


STEP 4: COMPLETE “MY APPLICATIONS”


  1. Make sure you select the correct date you will start college.

  2. Record your Account Number and Application Number in a safe place.

  3. Select Program Choices” and choose up to 5 programs (3 is the limit at any one school). Be sure to choose the program with the start date and campus location that you want.

  4. Select “Basis of Admission”, choose that you are currently enrolled in High School.

  5. Select “Transcript request” and indicate electronic transfer of transcripts.

  6. Select Payment Summary” and make payment. If you make payment by an alternate method, your application information will not be sent to the colleges until payment is received and processed.

  7. If you are paying online by credit card, follow instructions for payment. Print a copy of the Payment Details receipt for your records. ($95 for 5 choices, no more than 3 at any one college).

  8. View offers of admission after they are posted by the colleges. You may accept only ONE offer at a time. If after accepting an offer, you change your mind or receive another that you prefer, you may accept the new offer (before the expiry date). The new acceptance will cancel your previous one.
