This online video, created by the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty, provides relevant steps preceptors should take to promote a positive clinical experience for the student and preceptor.
Allow time for the student to be oriented to clinical setting. Office staff may assist in this orientation.
The student will provide the preceptor with an introduction letter at the beginning of the clinical rotation. This letter will include some information about the student’s professional experiences. It is recommended that preceptors take the time to learn about the student’s professional experiences of goals early in the clinical experience.
