The San Diego Hunger Coalition brings organizations across San Diego County together to create a Hunger Free San Diego. For 45 years, it has led coordinated action supported by research, education, and advocacy through the following goals:
Build a more effective and interconnected system of food assistance resources
Enable low-income individuals and families to purchase more healthy food by increasing participation in CalFresh, a monthly supplement to a household’s food budget
Ensure all children have year-round access to healthy food by expanding school meals as well as other federal child nutrition programs
Advocate for legislative and administrative policies that reduce hunger and increase access to healthy food
The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank and our North County Food Bank chapter feed 350,000 people every month in partnership with 500 nonprofit community partners that operate feeding programs. Our nonprofit partners include: food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, low-income day care centers, senior centers, faith-based organizations, schools, and day centers for the elderly and disabled. In the fiscal year 2017 – 2018, the Food Bank distributed 23.3 million meals.
Feeding San Diego is the leading hunger-relief and food rescue organization in San Diego County and the only Feeding America partner food bank in the region.
Feeding San Diego provides more than 35.4 million meals every year to families, seniors, college students, veterans, people facing houselessness, and other underserved populations. They distribute meals in partnership with nearly 350 local charities, schools, faith communities, meal sites, and food pantries throughout the region!
