microgrant application requirements
Prior to submitting a Synthesis Microgrant application, all SYN-100 project teams must review the following requirements:
Review draft of Microgrant application with SYN-100 instructor.
Understand that a project team may apply for a maximum of $200 over the academic year and up to $50 over Summer Sessions.
Review Award Criteria and Application Timeline (listed below).
Review Funding Guidelines for approved uses of award funding.
Review Purchasing Instructions for approved purchasing methods.
If awarded a Microgrant, all project team members are required to follow the Post-Award Requirements which include return of microgrant-purchased materials, and comply with any additional tasks to complete reimbursement and payment
In addition to following the stated application requirements, project teams should strongly consider:
The Synthesis Program’s Mission of Environmentalism
Research options for digital displays and mediums as an alternative to printing. Strongly consider the carbon footprint of your project.
Additional Costs
Incorporate estimates for sales tax, shipping/delivery costs, and other related fees in the application's Microgrant Detailed Budget sheet.
Timing of Receiving Materials and Supplies
Plan for when materials/supplies will be received by and whether it realistically meets the project execution timeline.

Synthesis faculty and staff review all Microgrant applications. Award criteria includes:
Alignment with goals of Synthesis Program
Accessibility of resources/materials (how easily are they acquired?)
Continuity of project (can the project be viewed/used after the quarter of completion?)
Feasibility of project execution based on timeframe
Sustainability of resources/materials
