As a member of the FitLife team, you are expected to have college level degrees, course work or nationally recognized certifications in your area of expertise, or a minimum of 10 years of experience in your field. We will ask you to provide copies of your certifications upon employment and ask for copies of new certifications acquired during employment. If you hold a certification that has an expiration date, you are required to keep that certification current during your employment. We encourage all FitLife team members to participate in continuing education opportunities.
We rely on reliable and timely communication with our staff to conduct business. We expect replies to email within 3 business days. For consistency, we will send most requests via email.

The first price listed on the website is for registered UCSD students and the second price for Rec Members.
Refunds
Refunds are NOT given for the following: Workshops, Special Events and Passes. All refund requests must be made by email to: fitlife@ucsd.edu or recreation@ucsd.edu. Requests received prior to the second class occurrence will receive a full refund less a $10 processing fee. The $10 processing fee will be assessed per offering. The amount of the refund per offering must be over $10 or a refund will not be provided. Requests received after the second but prior to the third class occurrence will receive a 50% refund.
Add Slips & Transfers
If your class is full and you would like to add a participant, complete the pink add slip located at the RIMAC FitLife desk. Give the add slip to the participant; they will need to take that to the Sales Desk to register.
Transfer requests may be made at any time via email to fitlife@ucsd.edu or in person at the RIMAC Sales Desk. If the class the participant wishes to transfer into is full, follow the Add Slip procedure listed above. If the class the participant wishes to transfer into costs more, then the transfer request must be made at the RIMAC Sales Desk and the difference between the two classes must be paid.

In the event that a Strength or Small Group class is canceled due to instructor absence, the customers registered for that class will receive a refund for that one class. If it is a permanent cancellation, we will refund participants for the entire class. We strive to contact customers prior to the cancellation. No credits or make ups for cancellations of Fitness & Yoga classes. RAP class cancellations are noted on the rec.ucsd.edu web store.
We reserve the right to place participants in the appropriate class, and we reserve the right to refuse service.
As a courtesy to the instructor and the other participants, and for safety considerations, the use of personal electronic devices (cell phones, etc) are prohibited during class time.
All class and program participants are required to sign a waiver when they register for the class/program online or at the Sales Desk.
All personal service clients agree to waiver when purchasing session on Acuity Scheduling.
Participants are not covered by UCSD insurance if they are injured during a class or session. If a student is injured and asks you who is going to cover the medical costs, please refer them to the FitLife office.
The purpose of the evaluation is for constructive feedback and continued growth.
Evaluations are also performed by class/program participants. This information is summarized and shared with you.
Our goal with evaluations is to improve the function and quality of our staff and program. We value your input and contributions.
Your program supervisor is responsible for the class/program schedule. Please be sure to communicate in advance your availability, any change in your availability and your desire to change or add classes/programs to your schedule. We welcome your suggestions.
Online communities like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, blogs, etc. can help UCSD connect with its constituencies in many positive ways. At the same time, there are some cautionary lessons that have emerged from participating in online communities. Administrators for both official UCSD Recreation and personal accounts used for social networking should be aware of the following:
You are posting content onto the internet and you cannot ensure who does and does not have access to your information.
Information you post online may continue to stay on the internet even after you erase or delete that information from pages.
Before participating in any online community, understand that anything posted online is available to anyone in the world. Any text or photo placed online is completely out of your control the moment it is placed online – even if you limit access to your site.
By agreeing to the terms of use, online communities have your permission to republish your content worldwide and share information with advertisers, third parties, and law enforcement, among others.
Don’t post information, photos, or other items online that could reflect negatively on you, your family, or UCSD Recreation. Remember, you are a representative of our program.
Be discreet, respectful, gracious and as accurate/factual as you can be in any comments or content you post online. Take care of spelling, punctuation and grammar---it DOES reflect on you professionally, as well as on the Recreation department.
If one of the policies or procedures in this manual is violated by a FitLife team member, the following actions will be taken:
A verbal warning will be given and will be noted in the team member’s employment file in the FitLife central office.
After the first verbal warning, a written notice will be given and a copy will be placed in the team member’s employment file in the FitLife central office.
When the third written notice is given, the team member will be asked to leave FitLife.
Verbal or written warnings may be given by different direct supervisors, e.g. the WorkStrong Coordinator and the Employee Wellness Program Manager may both issue warnings to the same employee. The effects of the warnings are cumulative. All documentation of warnings will be collected in the FitLife central office.
