How does UCSD plan to align the study with " A Framework for Incorporating Environmental & Climate Justice into Climate Action"?
How is UCSD working with local communities to enforce an equitable outcome with new decarbonization projects?
In the meeting with consultants and UCSD faculty, the consultants and faculty brought up a primary concern about replicating the infrastructure of other campuses, such as Stanford. What are some advantages we have at our school and how might we be able to work around barriers to implement infrastructure?
Our Recommendations:
Our group brought to UCSD faculty and consultants' attention that we are taking note of their work and want to know more. We shared our feedback on how they can improve their community engagement and future decarb. plans. We personally want to see, if any, what feedback they use in the future and what changes they make moving forward.
For future groups considering picking up where we left off, here are some tips for your projects!
Keep in contact with consultants we met with (linked below is our meeting with them) to see how they continue to progress
Utilize our research to help GUIDE brainstorm ideas; they're dense, but there are a lot of useful + easily accessible sources
Attend future town hall meetings to assess their communication to the public --> this was a focus point of our project (transparent communication from UCSD + consultants, etc.)
Consider reaching out to decarbonization-based orgs. on-campus --> there is potential here for developing a collaborative decarb. project(s)
