Opportunities for Course Development
UCSC Online Education provides an incubator space for all faculty to explore course design and development through 1-on-1 consultations with professional staff and faculty fellows, workshops, cohort training, or via our community of practice on Slack.
For faculty seeking a structured course development experience, there are various opportunities for funding to develop online and hybrid courses.
Fully online courses
Campus calls for fully online courses — typically released early in Fall Quarter for courses that will be offered during Summer Session. In response to the extraordinary circumstances, in AY 2019/20 and 2020/21 there were several more calls for proposals for online courses offered in academic-year quarters as well. View the current or recent opportunities.
The UC Office of the President supports the development of online courses that are open for enrollment to students at other UC campuses. Innovative Learning and Technology Initiative (ILTI) offers course development awards that provide ample support for designing and developing online courses.
Hybrid courses
Campus calls for hybrid courses — typically released once per academic year. View the most recent call.
Campus call for Coursera MOOCs — open to all instructors. Interested faculty can contact online@ucsc.edu.
