Science Department Summative Assessment Retake Policy
For Exams:
Any student who earns a score of 79% or lower on a summative assessment exam has the option to do one retake of that assessment. Upon completion of the retake, a student will receive the higher of the two scores as their grade. In order to take a retake of a summative assessment, the following criteria must be met:
The student has no missing work from the unit.
The student attends one tutoring session to review for the retake.
The student must initiate this process.
For Performance Events:
Any student who earns a score of 79% or lower on a summative assessment performance event has the option to redo the performance event and resubmit it for evaluation. Upon resubmission, a student will receive the higher of the two scores as their grade. In order to redo and resubmit a performance event, the following criteria must be met:
The student must reach out to the teacher for feedback on the initial submission, so they have guidance on how they can improve their work.
The student must resubmit the performance event prior to the completion of the subsequent unit of study. For example, if the performance event is from unit 3, the student must resubmit before the conclusion of unit 4.

5/17-5/21 Evolution Summative & Missing Work
Pre-AP Biology - Students will watch NOVAs “your inner fish” this week and then discuss and classify the evidence for common ancestry and adaptation presented in the video.
AP Biology - Students will finish the unit 7 assessment, present their inquiry models of micro evolution and begin unit 8, ecology.

We are in week three of “how can we save the bees PBL. Groups will be choosing their products and beginning to assemble them this week.

Physical Science- We will begin the next unit where they will start to explore the periodic table.
Honors Physical Science- We will finish choice boards on the different ways to charge an object.

Pre-AP Physics- We are finishing up the electrostatics unit.
Physics- We are finishing up the electrostatics unit.

Biomedical Sciences
Principles of Biomedical Science - This week we will be finishing up Activity 2.2.4. We will also spend some more time on pedigrees. Our Unit 2 Exam will take place on Thursday.
Human Body Systems -

5/20 Final - Unit Exam on 3.3-3.4
Medical Interventions - This week we will finish Activity 3.4.1, We will take our Unit 3 Exam on Thursday.

Chemistry - Students will compare and contrast the three types of chemical bonds.
Pre-AP Chemistry - We will continue working on balancing equations and identifying reaction types. Our Unit Exam will be on Friday.
AP Chemistry - Unit 6 Students will complete a chapter 5 Review Activity
