9/23/2020 CURRICULUM NIGHT!!!

Instructions Below

Greetings UCHS Families:

I hope this message finds you well!! We are pleased to host this evening's Annual Curriculum Night at UCHS! Since we are currently in distance learning, our format for the evening will consist of a general information webinar hosted by our leadership team, followed by an opportunity to briefly visit all classes (periods 1 - 8) for your students via Zoom. You will simply follow your student's schedule for this portion of the evening. Please remember this evening provides an opportunity for you to visit the classrooms for a brief introduction and overview of the course. Due to time constraints, there will not be enough time to conference with teachers regarding individual student progress. Our upcoming Parent/Teacher conferences on the evenings of 10/7 and 10/8 will provide the opportunity for you to speak in depth with your student's teachers. Please find the agenda for the evening here along with the webinar link at the top of the page. Please adhere to the following schedule for the evening:

  • 6:30 - 7:25 pm

8/24/2020

Despite the unpredictable and unprecedented times we’re living through, I am excited to begin the 2020-21 school year with you - our students, families, and staff! We truly are one U City family. As we plan for another successful year, I look forward to our process of BUILDing stronger relationships, as a community, while we continue to BUILD strong and resilient students.

As Superintendent Hardin-Bartley communicated, there is a need for this school year to begin with students working remotely due to circumstances related to COVID-19. With school beginning remotely, all students will be expected to use their Chromebooks to participate in scheduled class sessions. Teachers will take attendance for online sessions and will record absences. Detailed information regarding these expectations is in our SY2021 Distance Learning Plan.

Each day of our first week of school will begin with grade-level meetings/webinars followed by an abbreviated U-day schedule. Administrators, counselors and other building leaders will discuss expectations for UCHS students.

While current circumstances present challenges, I am confident that we are well-prepared to support the diverse learning needs of students through an online educational model. We will also address the socio-emotional needs of students through several resources available to all of our students.

Let’s continue to bond together and remain committed to our strength of community! UCHS is a family, and we will emerge from this extended closure stronger than ever.

Respectfully,

Mike Peoples,
Principal of University City High School
