MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENTS!

FIRST MARKET A HUGE SUCCESS!
- - Not only did we learn A LOT, we grossed $650!

  - THANK YOU to Ms. Hohe in Communications and Mr. Flinn in Operations for help with PR and tents!
MARKET CANCELLED for Wednesday, 7/15 due to unsafe heat index!
NO Shifts or Market Week of July 19-Mrs. C. vacation!
- - Mrs. McCadney may still host shifts in the Side Hustle. These will appear in Sign Up Genius!
Farmer's Market Work Shifts
- - I have added all shifts through the end of the internship.
  - Because kids from the first shift didn't want to leave, shifts are now for the entire market.
    - - PLEASE BRING waterbottle, wear shorts and closed toed shoes, bring a sandwich or heavy snacks.
      - You will be given a 20 minute dinner/bathroom break!
      - We will have a cooler with ice on hand!
  - In early August, we will decide if we have the interest to continue after school starts.
Please read shift times and locations carefully to ensure that you're in the right place!

This link takes you to the hours log. This will list all your hours until Sunday, July 5, 2026. Look for your email and add your hours! Let Mrs. C. know immediately if there are issues.
Remember that your pay is capped at $400. If there are $ remaining from unworked hours, the $ will be distributed evenly to those who worked extra hours.
If you meet your cap and choose not to work, you CAN still participate in our fun events!

Reflection Highlights

Interns submit a reflection at the end of every shift as part of their hours log. Here are some thoughtful examples.

"A lot of my work was in the chicken coop, and to be honest, those chickens genuinely used to scare me until today. I used to think I would always get pecked, but after going in and being with them I realized they aren't that bad."

Regarding the market- "I was surprised that we cleaned everything like it was a walk in the park."

"I learned that showing up is the thing that counts."/"I learned that showing up is the thing that matters most."

"I figured out that talking to people as they walk up to your stand typically gets them more even more engaged into what you’re selling at first and they will be further inclined to purchase an item."

"I wonder how weeds are weeds, as in like why are they harmful but other plants aren’t."

From Mrs. Cummings-"Weeds are plants that grow where you don't want them to grow. Not all are harmful. Some are quite helpful exactly where they are, even if a person can't see it right away or ever. Some are misunderstood. Weeds and people have a lot in common."

ONGOING REMINDERS:

Interns MUST complete a gForm reflection when they log their hours.
- They'll be provided 5 minutes at the end of each shift to do so!
- Interns who leave early will have 24 hours to complete their reflection and log hours.
