Our Spring 2023 8th Grade Sustainability 2 class designed our Green Classroom Certification to improve wellbeing for our students, staff, and the planet.
The materials on this page have been updated by Jordyn Jones (UCHS Class of 2027 ( as part of her Missouri State Fair 4-H Project and can be used by other schools and organizations so that they can start their own programs!
These are the commitments that teachers and their students make in order to recieve certification:
Monitor classroom recycling bins to keep them free of contamination
Allow water drinking to prevent dehydration.
Use blinds and windows to adjust temperature and room comfort whenever possible.
Turn off lights when the classroom is empty.
Plan body breaks during 1.5 hour instructional blocks
Intentionally promote mental and emotional wellness and provide access to our wellness staff as needed.
Promote equity by including student voice and choice into how the certification requirements are met.
There are huge benefits to participation!
