March update

Dear Mentor Teachers,

Thank you for your ongoing support of our student teachers. A part of good teaching is assessment and formative feedback, right? Well, it is time for your student teacher’s mid-term evaluation. The purpose of the mid-term evaluation is to provide formative feedback to your student teacher on their progress toward the Teacher Performance Expectations (TPEs) designed by the CTC.

Before completing the survey online, I request that you fill out a paper copy (p. 33-38 in the handbook) and conference with your student teacher. At this stage, student teachers should be scoring 2 (emerging) and 3 (satisfactory). If they are not, please give the score of 1 (unsatisfactory) and ask your student teacher to set goals for improvement. If your student teacher has not had opportunities to meet the TPE, please note that in the comment. Please complete the survey by Friday, March 8th.

For NEW mentor teachers, please complete this survey to show your completion of the 10 hours of PD.

The CTC has a new requirement that all NEW mentor teachers must complete 10 hours of PD. Many of these hours are embedded in the work you already do with our student teacher. If you reviewed any of the modules with your student teacher, they count toward your hours! Please complete this survey by Friday, March 8th.

Please let me or the UCI Supervisor know if you have any questions.

Thank you,
