General Wellness Services
Students who have a medical question, need to refill a prescription, need a referral to a specialist, or something not immediately life-threatening (such as a persistent cough/cold or a bad sprain) should visit the University Health Centre located on campus in the second floor of the Students' Union Building (SUB).
The University Health Centre is a convenient health clinic on campus where you can book appointments in advance or do a walk-in and wait to be seen by the next available doctor. They will likely be the easiest place to go for accepting your University of Alberta Health Insurance Plan (UAHIP) coverage or private insurance.

On weekdays and weekends, you can visit a "walk-in clinic” or "Medicentre”. They usually operate on a "walk-in” basis (no appointment needed) and are open longer hours, but you may wait up to a few hours to be seen, depending on how busy they are and how severe/urgent your injury or problem is. They may also be more unfamiliar with billing to the UAHIP or private insurance, so be sure to show them your health insurance card, ask them how much money the appointment may cost you, and if they do direct billing. If you need to pay upfront and be reimbursed later, then you would submit your receipts to your insurance provider (UAHIP or other private insurance) and will be sent your reimbursement after.
