New Teaching Quality Support in the MD Program

The Teaching Quality Coordinator positions were created to recognize and celebrate the hard work and dedication of our teachers. We are here to listen to your teaching opportunities and challenges, provide guidance and support, foster a shared understanding of effective teaching practices, and highlight the excellent teaching that takes place across the MD Program.

Our approach is boots on the ground, our help is practical and evidence-based, and our goal is to encourage, empower, and help you build confidence in your teaching skills.

Our services and resources will focus on supporting pre-clerkship teaching in large-group learning environments.  

Making Quality Teaching Visible in the MD Program

The following initiatives will be available to you:

1. Teaching Observation & Feedback

   • New-to-teaching feedback

• • Requested observation of live lecture or vodcast for teaching development

  • Peer observation for teaching self-reflection, including multifaceted feedback for professional growth, annual reporting, or tenure and promotion processes

  • MD Program rotating observations

2. Teaching Questions and/or Consultations

• • In-person (feel free to drop by 1-002 Katz)

  • Virtual (book a meeting with us over Zoom)

3. Resources & Materials

• • MD Program Indicators of Teaching Quality (slide presentations; teaching design: content structure and teaching methods; presentation skills; interaction and rapport)

4. Teaching Support for Large Lectures

• Hands-on assistance with learning activities
