Beyond student evaluations, we facilitate other valuable forms of feedback and are committed to ensuring your dedication is acknowledged through various formal and informal opportunities. This page is designed to introduce you to these vital processes, helping you understand how you can receive feedback and how the MD Program will celebrate your vital contributions.

Each year, the MD Program publishes an individual thank you letter with recognition for your teaching contributions. Letters are available in Cally through your Instructor Homepage (login to users.med.ualberta.ca > Reports > Contribution Letter).

Program Evaluation & Student Feedback
The Program Evaluation Unit (PEU) oversees all aspects of the evaluation of the MD Program and curriculum. This includes administering more than 100,000 evaluations of courses, clerkships, and instructors each year. Program evaluation also informs continuous quality improvement and supports the accreditation process.
Student feedback falls into three categories:
Program: This category includes feedback gathered through course evaluations and other student feedback forms like course/clerkship evaluations, preceptor or resident evaluations and session evaluations.
Place: This refers exclusively to hot spot surveys, which are used by the MD Program to address mistreatment in the learning environment.
Person: These feedback sources include the professionalism and racism reporting processes designed to act on the most serious concerns in a timely fashion.

Accessing your Student Feedback
Teaching Evaluation Score reports (TES) provide you with feedback from students and are published when you have 3 or more evaluations in a particular course or Clerkship. You will be notified when a new TES report is available. If you teach in Pre-Clerkship, TES reports are published about 8 weeks after the end of the course. If you teach in Clerkship, TES reports are published about 6-8 weeks after the end of the academic year. You will access your teaching reports through the users module within Cally.
Please note that teaching reports are only available if you have 3 or more evaluations. If you have fewer than 3 evaluations, your teaching report will appear blank. How to Access Your TES Reports - instructions only.pdfThe Teacher Support Team has developed a Google Gem (AI tool) for analyzing your TES reports. The Gem has already been supplied with our customized prompt to evaluate your TES report results.
To start, click the Try the Gem! button below. Then, begin the session by typing Hi into the chat. Then, follow the prompts. Be specific in your requests and make your prompts as detailed as possible. Upload your TES report (as a PDF) into the text box when requested.
Gemini will act as a thought partner and a reflective support tool, providing summarized feedback and targeted questions to help you reflect on the feedback.
