As a critical educator in the area of drama/theatre education my research interests include: curriculum studies, critical pedagogy, drama/theatre education, Indigenous education, transformative education, youth & society, at-risk youth, incarcerated youth, street-involved youth, youth justice, restorative justice, applied theatre, participatory research, arts-based research, embodied knowing, ethnodrama, performance ethnography.
I use participatory arts-based methods in all aspects of my research. Arts-based research is an emerging and innovative qualitative method which brings together arts-based practice and scholarly inquiry. I teach graduate level courses in arts-based research and in participatory research.
