We use the thin section facility for multiple applications including

• The study of the nature of the induced crack/fracture in wellbore stability and sanding tests

• Micro features such as the fracture mode

• Rock mineralogy and petrology

The thin section facility consists of several components including

• Slab saw

• Trim saw

• Vacuum impregnation

• Lapping machine

• Micrometer

• Digital microscope
