Sand Control Screen Retention Testing 

Developed Testing Apparatuses for Pre-packed Sand Control Screen (SCS) Testing Include:  

1. Multi-phase Sand Retention Testing (SRT) 

2. Scaled Completion Testing (SCT) 

3. Full-scale Completion Testing (FCT)  

4. SAGD Injection Well Flow Back SRT (In-SRT) 

5. Dual-liner SRT (Gas Reservoirs) 

Sand Production/Retention Tests

• We perform sand production testing for continuous measurement of the produced sand and fine particles as a function of factors such as time, effective stress, flow rate, particle size distribution, water cut and salinity.

• Use both hollow cylinder (scaled testing of the wellbore) and perforated samples (full-scale testing of the perforation) 

• We also use the testing facility for SAGD sand control screens using screen coupons which can include multiple slots

• Sample diameter can be up to 7-in. diameter and 11-in. height

• The facility consists of a loading frame, cell, sand measurement unit, fluid flow unit, and instrumentation among others

• Flow geometry can be liners, radial or spherical

• Maximum operating axial stress: 11,000 psi

• Maximum operating confining pressure: 5000 psi

• Flow rate: up to 5 lit/min
