WHAT: The City Limits Accountability Reporting Initiative for Youth (CLARIFY) is a paid internship opportunity for New York City high school students to earn a stipend of $1000. Interns will be trained in the essential tenets of reporting and news writing, including research, interviewing, investigative techniques, media ethics, story structure, photojournalism and more. Participants will work closely with City Limits’ reporters on locally-focused news stories about important New York City issues, with the goal of getting those stories published in City Limits and in a student-produced newsletter.
WHO: Any Junior or Senior residing in New York City that has an interest in writing and current events, and should be curious about the world around them

WHAT: The Internship Program provides paid, mentored internships and career readiness workshops to high school juniors and seniors. Students acquire hands-on experience, gain entry to small businesses, nonprofits, government agencies and multinational corporations and earn needed money. There are five integral components to the Futures and Options Internship Program, which ensure that the internship is rewarding for the intern as well as the partnering business. The five components are the student recruitment and application process, intern placement, career readiness workshops and monitoring, and collaboration with school staff and mentors/supervisors.

WHAT: The YMCA’s nationally-recognized Lifeguard Certification program prepares you for one of the most highly demanded jobs in the country. Want to sign up for the next certification course? Your first step is to register for a pre-test before qualifying for the Fall II Course. You will need to bring a swimsuit, a swim cap, and a towel to the pretest. After you successfully pass the pre-test, you may participate in the free Lifeguard Certification Course. If you become a certified lifeguard, you can apply to be a lifeguard and be paid afterwards to serve your community!

WHAT: ACE GNY is a free after-school mentorship program for students to learn about careers in architecture, engineering, and construction management. Students join teams led by professional architects, engineers, and construction managers to gain experience in the design and construction industry. During sessions, students learn how to use design software, go on office tours/field trips, and participate in fun hands-on activities to learn more about the different career options. This gives students the access to apply to unique scholarship and internship opportunities.
