Intro: Students will brainstrom different bodies of waters.
Activity: Students will look at different types of water and identify their name. Students will examine different picture cards that contain different bodies of water and label each of them. Then students will choose their favorite body of water and write about that specific body of water. They will research on their computers how water is collected in the specific body of water. They may also include fun facts about the body of water they find along the way when researching.
Closure: Students will compile a list of the body of waters they learned throughout the activity The teacher will explain that the body of waters that were shown are all collections of waters. They collect the water that is produced during precipitation, which plays an important part of the water cycle. The teacher will also mention the important of the collection process as it provides homes to survival animals and is a big part in the ecosystem. A book will be read to show different bodies of water seen throughout the world to deeper their understanding.
Informal: Observations through class discussion
Formal: Project on chosen body of water
Picture cards- there will be a total of 8 picture cards. The names will be cut off and students will match the correct name to the associated body of water.
