Description of topic: Higher level questioning and thus thinking is a goal of the high school social studies curriculum. To help students reach these higher levels of learning, they will create this question chart regarding Social 10-1 curricular objectives. Specifically, the concept of outsourcing. By doing creating questions in each "cell" of the question chart and then answering those same questions, students will develop a thorough understanding of the concept.
Lesson Goals/Learning Outcomes:
Description of Question Chart: The question chart has the basic questions labeled vertically (who, what, where, etc). Horizontally are words that increase the complexity of those basic question starters. Questions such as who is involved in outsourcing?(top right of the chart) are basic knowledge questions where the question why might someone protest a company who outsources? (bottom left of the chart) is evaluation/analysis question. Once students complete the chart by creating their questions, they can then exchange their questions with another student or simply work on their own answering the questions. A completed chart is included as well.
If it s more desirable to have students to simply answer the questions or you would like to see an example, here is a completed question chart.
